Polyurethane foams have a large presence in industry and in the domestic sphere. It is a very versatile material because depending on the additives they contain and the manufacturing systems used, their characteristics and properties can be different. Its use range from the production of protective foams, mattresses, automotive accessories, construction materials, refrigerators and freezers. In some of their applications, it will be important that they are rigid and have good thermal insulation properties; in others, flexibility will be sought and the load (compression characteristics) will be expected to allow good cushioning.
Silicone surfactants for polyurethane (PU) foams:
- allow to improve the emulsification of PU foam components by offering the desired stabilization in the foam expansion process as well as good control of the size and distribution of the cells. This allows for regular foam on the blocks.
- They can also be designed to improve some properties of polyurethane foams, such as the thermal insulation or flammability.
