Design and proof of concept of image-based control of application processes – Advanced Digital Technologies Vouchers
PRODUCTOS CONCENTROL S.A. has carried out the project “Design and proof of concept of image-based control of application processes”, subsidised with the support of ACCIÓ within the framework of the Advanced Digital Technologies Vouchers programme (voucher code ACE124/24/000263).
The project, conducted in collaboration with Eurecat (member of the Catalonia Digital Innovation Hub – DIH4CAT), aimed at designing, developing and validating an optical system for controlling the release agent applied to metal moulds in foaming processes.
This technology enables the digitalisation and automation of coating control, improving the quality, traceability and efficiency of the process. The work included material characterisation, the analysis of optical technologies (NIR, SWIR and UV fluorescence), the selection of the most appropriate methodology —fluorescein under UV excitation— and its experimental and industrial validation.
The results demonstrated the industrial viability of the system, establishing the basis for its future implementation within the framework of Industry 4.0.
Furthermore, the project helps reduce release-agent consumption and the generation of chemical waste, promoting cleaner and more sustainable manufacturing aligned with the objectives of Industry 4.0 and the circular economy.
