The lack of access to drinking water causes millions of people to live in poverty and thousands of women and girls have to walk many kilometres every day to go and collect water. Intermon Oxfam created the Oxfam Trailwalker to raise funds with the goal of bringing water closer so that more people can have a decent life without poverty.
This event comes originally from military training in Hong Kong, but in 1981 it became a charity event by Oxfam to raise funds and today it is one of the main sporting challenges in the world, with 16 events in 11 countries.
The main goal is to fight poverty and hunger, and for that reason the teams raise funds that Oxfam Intermón allocates to cooperation projects, humanitarian aid, fair trade and awareness in more than 90 countries around the world. Since the first edition in our country (2011), more than 2,400 teams have already participated in Oxfam Intermón Trailwalker and over 5 million Euros have been raised.
With Concentrol’s collaboration, the group “Concentrol Trailquick’s”, with members Ferran Soler, Pau Suy, Jordi Suquet and Guillem Batalla, is going to participate in the 2018 edition of the Oxfam Trailwalker in Girona, where they will travel 100 kilometres in 32 hours in a race next Saturday April 14 starting in Olot and finishing in Sant Feliu de Guíxols. From Concentrol we want to give encouragement and support to the team and wish them luck in this important challenge.
