In the industry, excessive foam formation is often an undesirable phenomenon that leads to surface defects in paints and coatings, overfilling of containers or reactors, and can even become a safety issue due to foam spills in industrial areas.

At Concentrol, we offer a range of defoamers based on silicones, mineral oils, vegetable oils, and polymers. The trademark for our defoamer range is EMULTROL DFM, and the following letters identify the type of defoamer, its characteristics, and its application grade.

Concentrol offers a range of silicone-based defoamers in the form of silicone emulsions, silicone compounds, and solid defoamers in powder form for various industrial applications.

Silicone Emulsions

Silicone emulsions are identified by the acronym DV. They are known for their high dispersibility in aqueous systems and compatibility with a wide range of chemicals. They are effective at low doses, ranging from 0.01% to 0.1%, depending on the type of defoamer. This results in a product with a good effectiveness-to-price ratio.

Silicone emulsions are divided into two subfamilies: technical-grade silicone emulsions and food-grade silicone emulsions, identified by the FG (food grade) acronym, indicating their suitability for use as a food additive according to Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008.

Silicone Compounds

Defoamers based on silicone compounds are identified by the acronym CP. They are 100% based on active materials and consist of mixtures of hydrophobic silicones and silicas. They have high stability against temperature and shear and can be used as a base for formulating silicone emulsion defoamers. These silicone compounds are available in both technical and food-grade FG versions.

Silicones in Powder Form

Finally, defoamers in powder form are identified by the acronym P. They are known for their ease of handling and use, great stability at high temperatures and extreme conditions, and are formulated with raw materials suitable for use as food additives.

Sectors and Applications

At Concentrol, we provide defoaming solutions for various industrial sectors, including the food industry, water treatment, textiles, paints and coatings, among others. In our research and development center, we work to develop tailored solutions for each of our clients and explore expanding our defoaming technology to new application sectors such as fermentation, sugar refinement, inks, high-gloss paints, and varnishes.

One of the primary applications of defoamers in the food sector is vegetable processing, and they are also commonly used in the beer industry.

Concentrol also offers technical-grade defoamers for industrial processes in various sectors, with water treatment being one of the primary sectors where Concentrol provides defoaming solutions.

Textile industry solutions are used in dyeing processes, and in the paper industry for pulp manufacturing.

In addition, Concentrol provides defoaming solutions for various sectors beyond those mentioned above. The study and design of solutions for new sectors are made possible thanks to our significant investment in research and development at Concentrol.

The company is constantly evolving to offer the best solutions to its customers, with the aim of innovating with chemistry to have a positive impact on society and the planet.

At Concentrol, excellence is not just a goal but a reality in our daily operations. Our commitment to innovation and sustainable development places us at the forefront of the industry, offering products and solutions that not only meet the needs of our customers but also contribute to global well-being.
