In previous installments of this article series, we discussed the actions we are undertaking in relation to the SDGs, including clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, ending poverty, zero hunger, health and well-being, and quality education. In this installment, we will delve into other objectives where Concentrol is equally dedicated to taking action.


Gender equality and women’s empowerment

In alignment with the fifth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 5) of the United Nations, which seeks to “achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls,” our company places paramount importance on implementing concrete measures to support this goal.

We firmly advocate for an inclusive and equal workplace where all individuals enjoy equal opportunities, free from discrimination and harassment. To this end, our company has implemented a comprehensive protocol against sexual harassment, which establishes clear rules of conduct and procedures for reporting and sanctioning violations. Additionally, we have designed and are currently in the diagnostic phase of implementing an innovative equality plan.

The primary objective of this equality plan is to identify and, ultimately, eliminate any barriers or biases that may impede gender equality within our company. Our commitment extends not only to addressing overt biases but also to challenging the attitudes and organizational practices that may perpetuate implicit inequality.

We value work-life balance, recognizing its importance not only for the well-being of our employees but also for their productivity and commitment to the company. Therefore, we offer a range of work-life balance options that enable our employees to tailor their work schedules to their personal and family needs.


Decent work and Economic growth

Regarding sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth and the promotion of decent work (SDG 8), our strategic priorities encompass diversifying our business into new segments, modernizing production processes through automation, and continuously innovating to develop high-value-added products and solutions that meet our customers’ needs. Research, development, and innovation (R&D&i) are key activities that enable us to remain competitive in an increasingly demanding and dynamic business environment.

In the context of Decent Work, we have instituted flexible remuneration practices and maintain a code of ethics that facilitates work-life balance for all members of our corporation.


Sustainable development

We understand that industry, innovation, and infrastructure (SDG 9) are fundamental elements for progress in our sector. Consequently, we allocate significant resources to R&D&i projects that enable us to pioneer new technologies, enhance processes, and implement innovative solutions that promote efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability. These investments in sustainable infrastructure are pivotal to our future competitiveness.


Sustainable cities and communities

In alignment with SDG 11, which aims to create inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and human settlements, we actively collaborate with the Ángel Olaran Foundation on various cooperative projects focused on providing humanitarian, health, social, and educational aid in disadvantaged areas of Ethiopia. In doing so, we contribute to the creation of more inclusive and sustainable cities and communities.

Our commitment to the SDGs spans across multiple areas, serving as an invaluable roadmap to guide our efforts toward a more prosperous, just, and sustainable global future. These objectives are an integral part of our corporate social responsibility strategy, and together, we can work towards their achievement.
